Pre-Convention Committees
Looking for a short commitment with big impact and a chance to get to know your neighbors?
Help by serving on one of our convention committees. These committees are meeting this weekend to start organizing, with 1-2 additional meetings to be determined. Please join us on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 9am -12noon, at the Woodlake Nature Center. 6710 Lake Shore Dr S, Richfield, MN 55423.
Credentials Committee
This committee prepares sign-in sheets and badges for delegates and alternates to the SD50 Convention. Duties include managing sign-in, compiling reports, and determining alternate upgrades. Time commitment: 2-3 meetings / 8-10 hours
Nominations Committee
This committee identifies and screens candidates for SD50 directors and state central committee members. Duties include determining and distributing the schedule and locations for screenings, interviewing potential candidates, and providing recommendations to the Convention Chair at the convention. Note: If you are interested in being nominated for a director position, you cannot serve on this committee. Time commitment: 4-5 meetings / 10-15 hours
Constitution & Bylaws Committee
This committee reviews the current SD50 Constitution and Bylaws, and proposes changes. Duties include thorough review of the documents and preparing proposed changes for presentation and voting at the SD50 convention. Time commitment: 2-3 meetings / 8-10 hours
Arrangements Committee
This committee plans and arranges the food, floor plan, logistics, etc. of the convention. Duties include conducting a site visit to confirm accessibility, seating, A/V options, and other logistics, creating and posting directions, signage and other wayfinding information, and determining campaign tables, donation strategy and any fees. Committee members should be prepared to arrive an hour early to the convention.Time commitment: 2-3 meetings / 8-10 hours
Resolutions Committee
This committee reviews the resolutions passed in SD50 precincts on caucus night and prepares the list to be voted on at the SD50 Convention. Resolutions that pass this vote are moved forward to the congressional district conventions for consideration. Time commitment: 2-3 meetings / 10-15 hours
Convention Rules Committee
This committee proposes the rules for the SD50 Convention. Members will use past rules as a starting place for determining the best ways to conduct the business of the convention to ensure fairness, efficiency and completeness. Time commitment: 2-3 meetings / 8-10 hours
