LETTERS OF SUPPORT

If you plan to campaign in Richfield for the 2024 Municipal Elections and are interested in obtaining a Letter of Support from the DFL, then Senate District 50 DFL and Senate District 51 DFL invite you to complete an application form and attend an interview and voting session.

The DFL has streamlined the process for non-partisan municipal election candidates to obtain a DFL Letter of Support.  The DFL’s Senate Districts, whose geographical boundaries encompass the elected office’s municipal district, will form a special committee.  This special committee will invite candidates to seek a Letter of Support.  Candidates will apply to only this special committee rather than to the individual Senate Districts’ Central Committees.  The procedure includes filling out an application form, attending a special committee meeting for a brief interview, and voting by the special committee.

The DFL Letter of Support affirms that a candidate for a non-partisan municipal office is a member in good standing with the DFL and is granted the ability to purchase a VAN (Voter Activation Network) account from the DFL for use by the candidate’s campaign committee.  The Letter of Support is not a DFL endorsement, and multiple candidates for an elected office may be issued Letters of Support.

For the 2024 Richfield municipal elections, the special committee members who will interview and vote on Letters of Support will include SD51 DFL Central Committee members who reside within the municipal district of the candidate.  Candidates achieving 60% or more affirmative votes will earn a Letter of Support.

Please complete our Letter of Support application.  You will receive interview meeting information from a member of the special committee.
