2020 Precinct Caucuses and Presidential Nominating Primary Election!

Anita Smithson (She/her, Precinct 12 Chair, SD50 CC Member)

DFLers have a lot to look forward to – and work for – in 2020. One new piece of the elections process is the presidential nomination primary!

On Tuesday, March 3, 2020 (or starting on January 17, 2020, with our no-excuses absentee voting process!) people across Minnesota will go to the polls to cast their ballot for their preferred nominee for President in Minnesota’s Presidential Nominating Primary. In Minnesota, only major parties will have a preferential ballot. If you’re like me – you’ve been following the debates, issues, and candidates – and may have a few favorites. Of course, in the end – vote BLUE, because so many issues we care about depend on it!

Of course, the grassroots work of the party starts the week before at Precinct Caucuses, which will occur on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 7:00 pm. This is where we meet our neighbors, talk about the issues we care about and work towards the process of nominating candidates at the local level. More information about Precinct Caucus locations is to come.

Do you have questions about the Caucus and Primary processes? Want to help plan and put on the caucuses? Join us at a Senate District 50 (SD50) Central Committee meeting to learn more (and hang out with fellow Democrats!)
